What is coaching?

Coaching is a powerful way to enhance an individual’s self- awareness, self- confidence and success.  It works well for two specific types of people:

  • Those who have experienced- or are about to experience- significant change in their lives (the end of studies, a loss of job, a separation and so forth)

  • Those who would like to bring about significant positive change in their life, perhaps feeling they are ‘stuck in a rut’ and living a life in which they are not achieving their full potential. This state may be characterised by low self- esteem, boredom, anxiety, frustration and a general sense of wanting more from life.

In either of these cases, regaining a rock solid sense of identity is key.

Coaching consists of taking a client on a deep, exciting and introspective journey- a journey which will typically ask the following three questions:

  • Who am I at my best? (my strengths, talents, values and passions)

  • Where am I going? (my personal vision and specific goals to reach that)

  • How am I going to get there? (boosting my hope, efficacy, resilience and optimism)

It is usually delivered through a series or in- person or online sessions, in which the coach will ask some powerful questions that catalyse deep reflection.  From this reflection comes the creation of a compelling future vision, which is broken down into tangible goals. From this place of enlightenment, excitement and empowerment, the client begins to take action. With every minor success, they start to powerfully shift their mindset, creating new neuronal connections in the brain and mastering the thought- emotion- behaviour cycle. By understanding the basics of human psychology, the client can make the kind of small changes which can alter the course of their life.

I work with adults of any age and teenagers from age 13 onwards.
